That spinning thing that makes all of the cool noises. OE and Aftermarket.

Turbo Noise.... I think

Post by wallgood358 »

I was driving my car fairly hard last night. The car was cold, and i gunned it kinda hard trying to catch up with the people i was following. It pegged pretty high as far as rpm, but not redline and shifted hard. I turned slowed down a bit and turned left onto a side street and heard this very loud hissing noise that lasted about 15 second until i slowed way down to go over a speed bump. I am wondering if this would be bov related and mabye i had that much pressure needing to be let out or it i have another problem all together. I drove the car a little after and around today and it makes no out of the ordinary noises

I wouldn't recommend high rpm/load conditions on a cold motor... :(

+1

I religiously let my car warm up at least until the needle moves off the bottom of the gauge. Even in summer. Having a remote start helps too.

Think about it. How well would you work if you had to do a full out run right from a dead sleep? Not to mention the wear on the piston walls/seals. Change the oil and let it warm up from now on and hopefully there's no damage. As far as the hissing, I have no clue.
