I need a toolbox!!!!

Post by gto7419 »

I just came into a few tools and am in need of another tool box :-D

I looked at the stainless costco toolbox for $670. Then I saw HF carries the same one for over $900. It has gotten mixed reviews.

HF also has another red 41" box for sale at roughly the same price of the costco stainless one. It is supposedly well constructed and has surprisingly gotten decent review from others online.

I am going to call HF in the morning and see what kind of price match they will give me to the costco stainless unit.

Other than that, anyone know of any sub $700 41" tool chest I should take a look at? Ball Bearing of course!!!

Geez. I bought my Craftsman toolbox on sale for $99, and I don't have enough tools to fill it up with.

Hehe, Im buying this box as an investment for a lifetime. I have a ton of milling and lathe tooling that needs a proper home. On top of that, I just got a whole lot of snap on tools that also need a home.

Ive been keeping my other tools in my room (I live with my parents) in boxes because I have no where else to put them....

edit - I love tools :-D

I keep buying tool sets that have their own case. I guess it helps me not lose shit. Sooner or later I'll have to get a real tool box, but the leaning-against-a-wall Stack-On box my dad left me works for all the rusty tools I have found. I swear, I have the hugest collection of allen keys, files, and dull drill bits known to man.

+1 for the ball bearing - nothing less for me. Craftsman has the griplatch too.

I've been pretty happy with the ones by Kennedy.

I just checked out their stuff. Its more expensive than both the harbor freight and costco models.

Im not a huge fan of Kennedy - I find the drawers dont slide very well when fully loaded. They have a HUGE machinist following though.

I also happened to find http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INTERNAT ... enameZWD1V

I spoke to one of the vendors on ebay, and I can get this top and bottom box for $740 shipped. Im not a huge fan of sight unseen though. Also, I cannot find a single review of this box.

Im kind of between the harbor freight red one - $760, or the costco one - $730.

The harbor freight one has some really good reviews. The costco one has changed brands to "trinity" and quality has supposedly gone down. - It is stainless though, and it practically has a lifetime warranty through costco.

Ok, in an effort to save some cash, Im buying the red top box only from harbor freight. Its $299 plus shipping which is roughly $50 bucks...

Now I just have to find someplace to put it :-D
