Need Some Opinions On My Clutch Situation

Post by turboleg »

I dropped the EJ22T (stock) into my NA FWD a year ago. When I did this I installed a 98 RS Flywheel and Exedy OEM clutch (also for the 98 RS). This combination has about 3k miles on it as is. Now I have finally found a 4.11 Tranny that is worthy of the swap. I want to put a Exedy stage I clutch and a LW flywheel in eventually. But my question is will the RS Flywheel and Clutch kit handle the AWD well enough to leave it in? I can quarantee that the AWD will have some hard dumps coming its way (kinda in a hurry to kill the 4.11 tranny so that I am forced to send it out for a dog box  ).

I have no problem pulling a slightly used RS clutch and flywheel to replace it with something better. But if the combination will hold without slip in the AWD I might as well use it.

Just for the curious: The eventual goal for the car is to have 250 AWHP....its going to be a year or two.

Another question I have is:
When I go to the Exedy Stage I and LW flywheel should I just get the BC/BF Legacy Flywheel and Clutch or is there a better option (off say like a RS, Rex, or STi)?

RS's are AWD there fore the clutch/flywheel is designed for AWD. It doesn't matter. I say if you plan on putting in the LW flywheel and clutch anyway, you might as well do it now and save yourself having to drop the trans again.

That's my 2cents.

If he is using a push type clutch setup, WRX stuff won't work
