bad smell from defrost

Post by know1 »

I get a funky smell when I turn on the def button or the def/heat on my center console, and only when either of thoes two buttons are on. It kinda smells like a mix of puke and mold :P any ideas on what it could be or what I should get done to fix this?

Go to Autozone or whatever chain auto parts store is available to you. They have products that you spray into the vent intake that kills the mold. I had to do it twice, but mine is good now.

It does that because the AC turns on when you use the defroster.

Interdynamics makes some stuff called pure air. Works really well. The smell is coming from the evaporator coil. You need to remove the blower fan so you can get access to it. Remove any loose debris you can see, and spray the evap coil thoroughly, put the blower fan back in, and turn the blower fan on high for a few minutes.....repeat this process 2-3 times.
