Which wheels for my Forester?

Post by BAC5.2 »

16x6" OZ/Prodrive:

or 16x7" Speedline:

They are all fucked up, so I will probably clean them up and paint them. Unfortunately, they would lose the "OZ Racing" unless I could, somehow, find those stickers.

The tire size will likely stay 215/65/16 for a while, then I'll go to either 215/70/16, or 225/75/16.

Here's the Forester:

If someone is handy with the photoshop, you could hack the wheels on there, and give me a better idea of which to choose.

I like the Prodrives for that car since it has that brutal East African Safari look and I've never seen anyone else with them.

I'm feeling the speedlines myself.

Either of them would look slick, but the speedlines look a bit better for everyday.

Also, I think the prodrives would look kinda odd without the logos.

Speedlines... mmmmmmm...

I want to fondle them.

I'd go with the Speedlines.

After seeing a profile picture of the speedlines, I think I might get a set of them. I'll get all 5.

It's a shame, I really like my stock SF wheels. I'll probably paint the Speedline's a kind of silvery gray like the stock wheels were.

WTF! Are any of those for sale for cheap? Where do you work? Rally central - the WRC graveyard? Wow! I'm impressed!!!

That's...wow...a lot of gold wheels.

I LOVED my Speedline-build Prodrive P7s and hated to sell them. I LOVE my OZ-built P-WRC1s.

Speedlines win because they don't use stickers!

I agree, the stock wheels DO look good, especially with that size tire and all the mud.

Oh, what the hell-- get the narrower OZ for winter use, the wider Speedlines for the rest of the seasons.

That thought crossed my mind. I can get 5 of each of them for a really good price. I don't really need two sets of wheels when I don't care about Summer tires, though.

All of the wheels are off of real Subaru rally cars. Dinged up a bit, but all straight and hold air.

From what I can tell, the OZ's should clear the Spec STi Brembo's. The Speedlines won't. The OZ's clear the gravel brakes (13.4" rotors and Alcon 4 piston calipers). The Speedlines should, I think, clear the WRX 4-pots/2-pots.

I vote Speedlines because I think they looks better. But being able to clear gravel brakes is pretty cool too.

Is it possible for one of us to get our hands on a set of OZ's?

Yeah, I agree Lee --- where is the stash of gold and how was it accumulated? Has to be a good story...

Can the rest of us get 5 for a really good price?

I know nothing of how it was accumulated. Just that they are cosmetically damaged rally wheels.

I might be able to talk the guy into a few more sets. Would you guys be interested for real?

How many sets of wheels are we talking about here?

I am honestly interested in a set of 4, either OZ's or the Speedlines.

Do you know an approximate range we'd be looking at?

It would probably end up at around $750 to $1000 USD per set of 5 shipped. They are coming from England.

If I can get like 3 people in on it (plus me, giving 4 total), I think we can do it. I could get them all shipped to me in MD, and then ship them out to you guys from here.

If anyone is serious, PM me and I'll see if I can set it up.

Actually found a set of 99RS rims 16 x 7 for $250 - super excited!

Ouch :(, I'm afraid that's a little too rich for my blood. As much as I'd like to, I just can't justify that right now for rims.

FWIW, I could do as much as $400-500 for a set but just can't drop more than that on rims right now.

It MIGHT be 750 a set, it all depends on shipping and interest.

If it can be done 600 to my front door then I'm still in. But otherwise I need to get a tranny and my 2.5 shortblock and associated goodies.

But I would love to have a set of those rims :-/.

The Speedlines are an ET50, and the OZ's are an ET48 (he's checking).

MIGHT be able to do 600 shipped. I don't think so, though.

Phil, could you explain the ET rating, even just briefly. Something I'm new to.

And I'll be honest. I am really liking the idea of being able to run stock STi brembos under a 16" wheel. And having a true WRC rim. But dang... money...

Please do keep me posted though as I am really interested and should have a bonus coming up soon though I don't know for how much.

Thanks.
