Out of curiousity, why didnt you opt for aluminum pins to get a similar TEC?

simply because I had the brass laying there.

I'd think the different expansion rates of brass and aluminum would cause problems, don't you?

Can you fun 400whp safely on an open deck block?

All done assembling 95%.
The hardest part has been working on taking a 2.2 phase 1 SOHC cam gear and turning it into a phase 1 DOHC cam gear. Originally I had calculated it to be 22.5% off but it turns out to be more like 27 % off.
But after about 4-5 hours of swearing and 3 cams later, I have a modded cam gear and it installed and only about 1-2% advanced.
The intakes on, most of the little crap is on, and all I really have left for "engine assembly" is to put it on the hoist so I can install the flywheel and clutch!
Waiting
Waiting
Waiting
Clutch show up!
The clutch is supposed to show up on Wednesday or Thursday, which means I have to install it, install the motor, get it running and tuned and race on Saturday....... Possible? Yes. Sane? Probably not.

ARgghhhh!!!!
So, don't have an oil pickup....
don't have a damn dipstick....
The oil in pipe that attaches to the valve cover is the WRONG size....
Luckily, I fabbed an adapter to the valve cover, and the oil pickup and dipstick are on another motor I am picking up tommorrow.

Im guessing you're not a fan of break-in periods?

And just like meth, it costs the most of all the build!

Got the clutch (they shipped me a 6 puck instead of a 4).
Motor is IN!!!!
Everything is hooked up. I am installing the meth kit right now and taking a break. Installing the custom throttle cable took about 10 minutes longer than putting the motor in! My back is sore!

It started.
It ran
It makes so much noise.
And leaks oil EVERYWHERE!
I didnt goop the ****ing valve covers like an idiot. And it leaks everywhere.
And it smokes to high heaven
and I am a tad depressed.
In the amount of time it takes to fix the valve covers, I probably could switch motors with the good 2.2......
Argggggggg.

OK, of course I couldnt just leave it.
I went back to the wagon and started double checking stuff. 2 vacumn lines were off. Had forgot to put the alternator wiring back on (took me something like 20 minutes to find it, haha, I had tucked it into the damn wheelwell!). And then put water in the radiator....
Suddenly I noticed no more noise!
No more air puffing out the damn valve cover breathers...
Still ALOT of oil pouring out the valve covers!
So..... I think I have a 89% chance of this thing working. But have to spend tommorrow morning pulling the damn valve covers off and resealing them. Goop, here I come!
Tired, sore and kinda positive.
