08 Outback arrived today

Post by entirelyturbo »

My thoughts: Don't like the Outback front end. It's not hideous (a la 06-07 Impreza or Tribeca), but I just prefer the 05-07 front end. It was perfect the way it was.

There was an 08 Legacy GT on the truck too that I got a glimpse of, but it went to another dealer. It was too high on the truck to get a good picture of. I'm okay with the Legacy front end a little more, but I still prefer the 05-07.

Anyway, here's the pics:

Next to an 07 spec.B for comparison:

I kinda like the new taillights for the wagons. I prefer the lens to be clear with an amber bulb like that. The new grill is kinda crappy looking, a little too big for me. The headlights aren't that bad, but is the projector a little bigger on the new ones? I thought it was just my eyes before, but now I'm not sure. I agree that the 05-07 was perfect how it was though.

Now, if they just bring a Legacy STi over here...

So much ugly packed into such a small company.

Between that and the 08 Impreza's you'd think that Subaru is owned by Toyota.......Oh wait. I would rather see them make some waves than just another econo-blob. Hmmm, which emoticon to use....Perfect :smt017

We had one more special appearance yesterday, but it was just a demo, it's gone already. It was too close up to the building for me to get a good pic of the front.

Yes, I like it. I think the styling is improved dramatically.

So the Tribeca is the most attractive product from Subaru for 08? There has always been resistance to the new models from Suby the past few years, but they kinda grow on you. I don't see this happening with some of the 08 stuff.

If I had to pick a single Subaru to take the keys too right now, I would actually consider the 08 'beca.

The new 3.6 is supposed to be really really nice. Over 180lb-ft from 1200 to redline. Not too bad. Much better than the old 3.0 B9.

Yeah, it's all about improving the low-end, which the 06-07 model did NOT have, lemme tell ya.

Overall horsepower is up less than 10, and I think overall torque is up less than 15, in an engine that is 600cc larger. But it can now use regular fuel, and yes, the torque was moved down further in the low-end.
