I removed the intake manifold to replace some stupid coolant bypass line. After I put everything back together my car runs like shit. It idles real rough, and when i accelerate it backfires. I cant get it to hardly go past 45mph or 3000rpm.
I checked for vacuum leaks and found none. Im certain I re-connected all the connectors, but im at a loss. The car didnt run this bad before I removed the intake manifold.

Is this something a vacuum leak could cause?

it's most likely your timing belt slipped its time. check that and your spark.....

I was pulling a plug wire to remove the plugs and inspect.
The 1st wire I removed, broke apart in my hand. So i went and bought a new set and we'll see if that helps.
I sure hope to god my belt didnt slip.

Make sure you didnt damage or forget to clip back the water temp sensor!

Is that the sensor under the alternator? In the center of the block?

No, its the sensor in the crossover pipe. The Red one, the one that is EASIER THAN CRAP TO BREAK.

Crossover pipe? You talking about the section that runs directly under the intake manifold?
Got any pix of this thing? The sensor that is, and where its located.

Would a dying temp sensor make a car idle rough or run rough? I thought it would just mess with your temp gauge. If it does mess with how your car runs I might have solved one of my problems.

Yes the ecu temp sensor makes a huge impact on how the car runs
