in person i have only seen 3 of these, and now i have one. not the radio, but whats under the radio. i was at the junkyard today looked down and something happend to catch my eye. a factory, in perfect condition fully functional cd player. the pic doesnt really do it justice. but it looks great and sounds great. not bad for being 15 years old

are these hard to find?

wow, i didnt even know there was such a thing in those years, and for it to still work is awsome, alot of times the lasers or motors arent worth a crap

it should just needs to be probably CD-R and needs to be in a audio cd format which WMP does when you select the option.

Nope, a lot of older CD players cant read burned CDs

home-burned CDs use dyes that have, for lack of a better word, lower contrast than factory CDs. The laser technology in older decks cant pick it up

BUT, its a THREE BEAM LASER TRACKING SYSTEM. Shirley it must be able to read home burned cds....

just got back from bumpn around with my new sounds. and get this it play all of my burnt cds. i couldnt believe it. i didnt think it would play them either. and yea it sounds great. i cant complain. dear diary jackpot

My 94 had one stock. I ended up destroying it to salvage the plugs for my scan-tool.

It played burnt CD's, but it didn't really sound very good. I ditched it within a week of ownership.

amazing that the ~15 year old legacy head unit has a better track record than the couple year old ones out of wrx's. my roommate's 02 already refuses to play CD's and the radio goes in and out.

One trick with old players is to burn the discs at a very low speed, like 1-2X. Sure it takes 30-70 minutes, but they're probably more likely to work.

My GT came with one but it died about a year after I bought my legacy the CD player died. I've upgraded to a factory 6-disk that I bought at WCSS8 for $15

I had one in my SS until two years ago when it stopped working. I loved it, even played burned CDs. Now I just have a Pioneer anda 1.5 DIN pocket.

Does the stock CD player have the ability to eject CD's when the car is off and you push the button? I'm wondering because I know the SVX / 95-99 Legacy CD player does, and the one in my mom's new Forester does, so that got me thinking.

if you buy audio blanks instead of data discs, and burn as mentioned before at a slow 2-4x... you will get a higher chance of playing them back in older cd players...

My 1994 SS has one, and it works and plays burnt cds just fine. I burnt them at 32x too.
