turbo outlet clamp

Post by jefferson »

My turbo has a regular hose clamp on the chamber going to the throttle body. I noticed there is a substantial locating lug on the bottom and was wondering if it would be better to have the stock clamp on there just to be sure I don't have any leaks. What is everybodys thoughts on this?

I don't quite understand what you're asking. Do you have any hose clamp on there? Or are you just asking whether it needs to be situated a certain way?

As I stated I have a regular hose clamp on it, but was wondering if the stock clamp would be a better deal. With that locating lug there I am sure the stock clamp is a special piece and might clamp things better. With a regular clamp there it puts alot of pressure on that locating lug with not so much around the sides of it.

The stock clamp is a standard screw hose clamp.

That really makes me wonder why they put that locating lug there. At least that is what I think it is, and there really isn't any other explanation for the thing.

The locating lug is to hold the clamp in the right place at the right angle for ease of assembly on the assembly line.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
