MBC

Post by Gregmckenna »

so I bought a MBC off ebay its one taht backs the boost off when the nob loosins... either way its a MBC... everytime I go to hook it up all i end up doing is getting a check engine light and it falls on its face when it enters boost.. ive tried the waste gate line everything... I HAVE searched Ive went through 11 pages of MBC crap an nothing has shown me what I need to do... I know theres a brown valve an another black one under it on my tower... i know the brown one has 2 vac lines an the black/silver has 3... I belive there tied into one anotheer I just don't know which opne to eliminate or by pass or trick... If someone could go out to there legacy and take a few pictures for me or kindly explain what to do in detal I would appreciate it very much... if u feel I should "SEARCH!!" it then save your time and energy Ive become really tired of hearing that although yes somethings should be searched others are hard to so if anyone would like to help a fellow Legacy central guy an go take some pictures then i would appreciate it an would also love to take some pictures of my setup after an have it stickyied for futur referance

The black/silver one is the boost control solenoid that the MBC replaces.

The lowest line on that goes back to the intake on the bottom of the intake silencer. The highest one (I think) goes to the compressor side of the turbo. The middle one goes to the wastegate. Feel free to double-check, though, because my memory is kinda fuzzy.

The brown one is the MAP sensor.

Yeah, it sounds like you tied into the lines leading to the pressure exchange solenoid, instead of the boost control solenoid.

Basically, what you need to do is remove the lines from the compressor side of the turbo and the wastegate actuator, set them aside, and then plumb in your boost controller between those two points.

Yes. Install the MBC between the nipple on the compressor and the wastegate.

I have the in/out nipples (top and middle) on the boost solenoid capped (mainly to keep crap out of there) and I kept the 3rd line (lowest one) running to the bottom of the resonator in place.

Leave all other lines connected.
