EJ22T reving
so I searched an found a ton of people who want to go 8K revs and what not... Im just looking to go 7... on everything being bone stock at 12 PSi with a TD04 FMIC and exhaust as long as I replaced my valve springs would there be any issues in having 7K as my redline an hitting it fairly often... would rods or bearigns be an issue?

Upgrade your heads to EJ20G's or EJ205's. Then you won't have to upgrade anything except EM for 7k redline and you'll actually see the benefits!
Unless you upgrade your turbo to a 16G or VF30-34 ect.. I don't think it's worth while.

I used to hit 7250 all the time, or so my tach read. Didn't lose a bearing, but It's definately one of the things I was worried about. However, all that happened was I lost a lot of compression in #4. Dunno why yet, too lazy to diag.
At anyrate, I'd be most concerened about a bearing destroying itself. These bearings aren't even good with the engine bone stock.

Do the EJ20G heads/intake and get a 16g
Thats what im in the process of doing right now
OH how fun it will be to start it again for the first time.

What is the compression ratio on a ej22t shortblock with Legacy ej20g heads?
I thought that they had larger combustion chambers then the stock 22t heads.

It's something like 7.8:1 IIRC. Not too bad since the 16G is fully spooled by around 3k rpm and will hold up to 18 psi all the way to redline....

My math gets 6.8:1 with the stock head gasket, which seems a bit low for any off boost performance. Check this thread for more...

The EJ25 DOHC & SOHC head are a good option, I believe both have 46cc chambers (I know the DOHC do). With the stock piston dish of 28cc and the 1.5mm head gasket you’ll get 7.5:1, not bad with a little more than stock boost. Stock EJ22T is 8:1 with 40cc heads. If you use the Wiseco forged pistons with the 20cc chamber you get 8.1:1 (I’m currently working on this build).
There is a .5mm gasket but the EJ22T pistons come above deck by about 0.015” and there is no clearance. I’ve heard rumor that there may be a 1mm gasket (from the 2.5 SOHC??), but the advantage of the 1.5mm is that you can use the EJ22T gasket which matches the bore with out a step (2.0 gasket) or gap (2.5 gasket), neither of which are good for sealing, flow or mixing.

The gc8s should be good, I'm just not shure where the CR will workout, basically any of the new gen heads are gonna be better than the stock EJ22Ts, they have tiny valves.
EJ22T - EJ20G - EJ25 Ph 1

On the topic of revs... I'm assuming you are going stand alone EM to get passed the stock limiter? And FWIW, my stock EJ22T had 250,000 miles on it before I started my build (there was nothing wrong with it when I pulled it) and I ran it to redline half a dozen times every day and had no problems with bearings, Subie bottom ends are tough.
