Hello all,
I'm new to all this, I have a 97 LGT and I know that this forum is for only up to 94 but I need help. When I turn sharp either way my car are turns. It feels like my V-8's locking diff. I only hear and fell this on turn and it doesn't matter if I am in drive, reverse or neutral. I will be checking the gear oil in the rear diff. on Saturday but in the mean time what could it be??
Thanks
Aaron

Sounds like torque bind. Try to locate the FWD fuse-holder under the hood (mine's really close to the passenger side strut tower) and put in a 15 amp fuse. Drive the car around, if it doesn't shudder anymore, then you've probably got torque bind.
If you decide the car is suffering from torque bind, you can try driving around slowly in tight figure-8s on a large, empty parking lot (after removing the FWD fuse). Do this for a while in one direction, then turn around and do it the same way. SOME people have reported luck with this. YMMV.
If this doesn't fix it, I'd recommend either getting a rebuild (preferably at a stealership) or try to find a tranny in better shape.
Notice that I don't know entirely if I'm speaking the truth. This is all from remembering posts I've read and I've never had experience with this. Someone smarter should chime in
