How does the 16G compare to a TD04/Vf11 in terms of spool/response?
I know its not as responsive, but am curious about how different the response is (super laggy, slight lag...).
Anyone have some RPM #'s where -
1 Boost begins to build
2 Max boost is attained (some backround on your set-up (5spd/4eat, max boost, I/C...)would be helpful)
16G spool?

So does it have more low end than a vf-11?
At least on my stock SS the boost starts to build at like 2800

I noticed that stock on my VF11, I would have full boost by 2350.
This is with a launch at about 1500
With the super 16G, at the same launch speed, it takes more time to build the power.
I start to feel pull at between 2200-2400, and full pull is at 3000.
As for low end grunt, the vf11 is better.
Spools faster due to being a smaller turbo.
But the 16G has way more pull.
In a race, with myself: one car running my stock vf11 at 12 lbs, and the 16G at my current 16, the vf 11 would pull half a car length at 2200, but by 2800, the 16g would be a full car length ahead.
( This is my speculation based on spool times and butt dyno feel)

The 16G will have way better off boost performance because of the larger compressor housing. The VF11 will pull better from 2-3k rpm only and will fall on it's ass by 4800 rpm (drops to around 9-10 psi). The 16G will fully spool by 3k rpm and hold up to about 17-18 psi all the way to redline. If you're running more then 18 psi on a 16G you'll see it drop back to 18 psi at about 5800 rpm.
The 16G pushes almost twice as much air at the same pressure as the VF11 though too so, 12 psi on a VF11 and 12 psi on a 16G are two totally different animals.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you're getting on it rowing thru the gears then you're only going to be under 3k rpm for about 1 second in first and then you're boosting like mad from there on out. Plus, when you're just cruising at highway speed you're not spooling the turbo all the time like the VF11 and the off boost characteristics of the 16G are awesome.

Thats good to hear.
I do have a TD05-14B on my high compression 2.2 Turbo converted Impreza & response is amazing - it feels like a BIG N/A motor with full boost happening @ 26-2800 rpm. I have actually seen it make 2-3psi of boost as I'm letting the clutch out on a launch.
I was wondering what response was like on a low compression motor, but it sounds like it is not bad at all. Once the auto spools the turbo once it will not fall off boost for that run.
I'll be putting my 16G on the LSS as soon as I get a chance to match-port the e-housing & port the compressor inlet/outlet.
