Axles and Differentials

Post by rallyryder »

Does anyone know what kind of axcels and diffs i can swap into my 92 Legacy Turbo, maybe some wrx or sti parts, anyone done any swaps or upgrades, most economical way to replace worn axcels and maybe improve strength for rally, i rally the car pretty hard and want to slowly start building it for competition, the axcels click i got like 200k on em and i want to replace everything i need to make sure the awd is working properly.

If there's 'clicking' you need new CV axles. Get the FWD ones for the front --they're a little bit beefier than the standard AWD ones.
Replace the rears with OEM, it won't make too much difference.

If you're looking for a new rear diff, I suggest an LSD from a '91 turbo, or from an STi. I'm not sure if the WRX ones will work because the rear diff on a WRX has a special reduction.
You'll have a hard time replacing or upgrading front and center diffs because they are housed inside your transmission, and anything having to do with a subaru tranny is expensive and time consuming.

by "rally" do you mean you beat the shit out of it in a gravel or mud pit just off the side of the road?

I find it funny how people buy an AWD car and instantly think that when they are driving on gravel that they are "Rallying"
