How to install?????

Post by Woody9101 »

ok, so heres the deal. I pulled out my old 4EAT and I want to put my new one in, the motor is still in the car. I was looking how everything was positioned and I can't for the life of me figure out how to go about putting the new trans in with the motor still in the car.

I have no idea how to put on the torque converter on when I cant get at the bottom of the bell housing where the opening is to bolt the torque converter up because the racket pinion is blocking it. The car is on jacks and block about 23" up so I have room. Any ideas? what people did? anything will help me out, so close to driving this car, I can't wait. once the trans is in Ill be soo happy! :D

so please any help details tips, thank you :)

The access hole for the torque convertor bolts is on the top of the engine. Just a tad to the left of center. It originally has a rubber plug covering it, but virtually everyone I see the plug is dried, shrunk and sitting on the block, not the hole.

The plug on mine was trapped between the flex plate and the block.
