I was fitting up my new front strut bar today, and i saw this. it looks like it was glued or something, and i'm 99% sure its a vacuum leak too

I wouldn't delete it. Just buy a used one, and make sure it is installed(plumbed) correctly.

Some people have picked up N/A canisters without the secondary purge and removed the valve. Just make sure you plug the line into the intake resonator and remove the T on the line from #1 cyl going to the pressure sensor.

well, i got a turbo legacy one from blackbart, so that will be going in there

if i was to delete it, it wouldn't be for performance value, just to save a little weight, and mostly to free up the engine bay. the one in my celica is 8-10lbs and sits right where most people like to mount oil catch cans.

But you could take it out, right?

Any good reason not to?

no, IIRC all a charcoal canister does is let the pressure from the gas tank escape, but keeps the vapors. then it lets those vapors into the vacuum system when the car is started.

i think only people in california who have visual inspections have to worry about it being there. however, its not really doing any harm, so unless its broken and your cheap, or your stripping your engine bay, or your going to use that space for something else, might as well leave it.

So if you delete this does that eliminate the need for the stupid canister purge solenoid valve located under the pass.side intake runner?

i don't know.

i just got a new one from blackbart. it actually runs a bit better now, but im guessing thats because there isn't a vacuum leak anymore.
