Just wanted to share my joy that I currently see Vikash hanging out on the BBS again. It's been a while since we've heard from you. Last we heard you were busy with school. How's that been going? Still got the SS? Any other projects going?

Glad to see you back around man, hasn't been the same without you. I hope all has been well.

I graduated a couple years ago... moved out here to Cleveland to join the work force. Things are going well for me overall.

Of course I still have my Legacy. I don't have that much time for projects these days -- and I can't say I expect to be able to spend much time here on the BBS -- but I do have something neat I built a while back I'm going to post about soon.

Sweet, Congratulations on Graduation!. You had a BS in CE correct? Then went for the PhD or 'just' the masters?

What are you doing for work?

BS in Computer Science, MS in Computer Graphics. I'm actually still working on the stuff I started in my master's thesis; I work at the Cleveland Clinic, doing research on computerizing vascular endograft design. I'm lucky -- how many grad students graduate and get to put their theses to actual use?

Ah, CS, close :).

And your research... WOAH. That's pretty amazing. No wonder why you've been so busy. That's pretty cool though that you get to work so closely with your thesis. I knew you were working on some pretty intense stuff but I hadn't realized it would have the real-world impact that it will. I've had grandparents going through some pretty serious heart issues and knowing the technology and understanding is progressing to the point of being able to predict arterial branching is reassuring.

You're the man, simply put.

Vikash!! Glad to see you're still alive bro! I'm very happy to see you are getting the chance to do some good for the rest of the world instead of us hogging you for ourselves. :mrgreen: It's also really cool to see you're putting to use all the hard work you did in school too. I know that many people don't get that opportunity after college. All that money spent, and for what purpose??

My wife (Kate) says "Hi!". She'll be graduating in May with her RN. She's VERY excited! BTW, Matt passed the turbo bug on to me & I got lucky enough to purchase an SS from a buddy who got shipped off to Korea to be an M.P. via the Army. I still only have a pile of parts and a non-drivable car, but that should change relatively soon I hope! :twisted:

Hey V! It's great to see you back!

I sold Subarina, unfortunately, but now I'm in an '07 Legacy and I have a '96 Outback wagon for a beater. I'm looking to hopefully get a new project here sometime soon if my current life crisis calms down a little.

It's a testament to your ability, I'd say, that you get a job that's a continuation of your thesis.

I finally finished one of the headlight units. Ended up plastic welding polycarbonate sheet to replace the fluted part of the lens. Came out OK, but it's sitting in my living room as it doesn't look like the car's going anywhere soon. Working on the design of a whole car from scratch now.

More like luck... The MD I work for now was working with me on the thesis research too. So maybe it's a testament to my good karma.

That's awesome that you got the headlight put together, dude. But is the car not running or something? Giving up on the Subarus in favor of the Mazda?

I lack the initiative and money at the moment to bother with the wagon. It was so much better to drive, though, even if the 3 sticks to the road better. Mainly I want to build my own car since nobody makes what I really want (though, the Aptera hybrid is in the ball park). I've got a couple of 1:18 concept models about 2/3 done. I'm not liking how the front fenders have translated from my drawings, but the bodies have turned out like I wanted.

This was something I was exploring in the interim - it's a Cessna 152 fuselage with a Goldwing rear end. The MA DMV wanted to call it a car and the plastic windshield wouldn't pass, so I've moved back to my original idea for a scratch-built 3-wheeler.

I know what you mean, Steve. I have to believe your ambition will eventually get you to the point where you've built the car of your dreams.

Could the Cessna/Goldwing thing work without the frontmost landing gear? Then it could be a homebuilt 3-wheel motorcycle, no?

Hi Vikash

Congrats and welcome back. I've done v. little to the Turbo Wagon, except to change the high-stall converter back to the regular one.

Bought a 62 Alfa a year ago and it took until late in July to get it well sorted out.

Are you still running the Leg. with the heat exchanger out front?
