Am I wrong...

Post by Fkyx »

...to think I shouldn't feel obligated to cater to my roommate's girlfriend (who doesn't pay rent here)?

Today I turned up my music as usual, but my roommate told me to turn it down because his girlfriend was sleeping in the other room. Doesn't seem right to me. I don't feel any reason to be kind to this girl (for other reasons I won't get into).

yeah f*ck that. unless she's paying rent she can't say shit.

tell her to go sleep at her own place if your music bothers her that much.

I concur, but that's probably obvious. Maybe you could have your roommate pay extra to account for his Live Doll, like how some land lords do for people with pet dogs - anywhere from an extra fifty to a couple hundred a month. Big dogs are more money.

I'm not worried about what goes on between me and my roommate. He'll take it seriously and like an adult.

I'm usually the nice guy the first time something like this happens, but I don't like to be walked on. Thanks for the words, guys. I'll tell him what's up next time it happens.

I think there's some common courtesy that should be observed. However if it's the middle of the day and she's just being lazy....then yeah I'd just tell your roomie that if she want's to sleep late, tell her to sleep at her own place.

Ragtime. Play some of that sh*t at high decibel, you can BET that she won't make that mistake twice. And you gotta play it up, too. So don your sweater vest and dock shoes and start dancing!

I don't think common courtesy is in order, honestly. She treats both me and her boyfriend like dogs, and I'm tired of being the "bigger man" and getting no courtesy in return.

Swans. I recommend My Buried Child, She Lives!, Beautiful Child, Killing For Company. Not angry sounding, not terribly disturbing to hear ... until you listen to the lyrics. The perfect soundtrack for a killing. Mix this in with an ambiguous smile while staring at her and you'll be golden (make sure to look away when she notices you staring at her). That'll unnerve her as a start.

If I had discovered this band 7 years ago my first book would be far darker and disturbing (as it stands there's a murder victim getting raped and a baby sold on the black market) and instead of only having half the people to have read it stop talking to me, I would have close to 100% (if anyone DID still talk to me after what the book might've been, I'D be scared). Of course I tend to scare people a bit from the get go, book or no, so maybe this advice wouldn't work as well for you.

There's always exceptions to any sort of rule IMO....so yeah if you don't get any courtesy in return....stop being nice.
