Another "will they rub?" thread...

Post by Fkyx »

I'm pretty well interested in a set of 16" Motegi MR7's or FF7's. The particular set I'm looking at is 16x7+42. I did a quick search just for Motegi, and the MR7 was very briefly mentioned in this thread...

...that they would fit, but nothing specific was mentioned. The Motegi site also says they will fit... but I'm not quite inclined to believe my car is terribly close to stock. I'm running Tanabe Sustec Pro adjustable coilover suspension, allowing for camber and ride height adjustments... so if this will make any difference, I'd like to know. lol

Thanks, and sorry about the redundant thread... I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind around the wheel choosing process. :)

Well, the wheels aren't going to be rubbing; the tires are. Depends on what you run. A 205/40 probably won't and a 235 probably will. Regardless +42 isn't enough offset and you should find a wheel in the 50-55 range.

In my personal experience, a 205/55-16 was the largest tire I could run on stock 93 struts with +55 offset 16x6.5 wheels. They were very close to both the fenders and the struts.

I switched to STi struts and have more negative camber. That means more room on both sides of the tire. 225/50-16s on 16x7 +53 wheels rub the fenders slightly.

I have H&R springs that drop .75 inch, and anything over 205 rubs for me.

And I evenm had to remove the inner fender liner - because it was rubbing.

These cars do not have the fender room for very big tires.
Yes I have too many Subarus
