Did i get a good deal??
Bought my first subaru a few weeks ago. Its a 1994 Subaru Legacy SS Turbo Automatic. Aegean Blue Metallic. Mechanically the car is in great shape. Paint is a bit faded. 130,000 miles. Interior is in great shape. It has one small dent. The guy was asking 2 grand for the car, but i offered them 1600 and he took it. DId i do alright?

the deal is whether you feel you got what you paid for.
I paid $400 for my 94 L about a month ago.
of course it's not a turbo, but tome it's a good deal. It's AWD, A/T PW Sunroof, 135k with a decent body to boot.

wow, i hope you are right. Right now im driving a front wheel drive Chevy SS, and it sucks in the snow. When i get home this weekend im gonna bring my subie back up to school. It has a decent set of tires on it all the way around now, so i dont think im gonna worry about buying a new set of snow tires for it. How does a subaru compare to a fullsized 4-wheel drive truck in the snow

as economists say..."it depends" ha ha ha
1. it doesn't weigh as much so thats both a good and a bad thing
2. all time awd kicks ass, so thats good
3. you have more control b/c of awd in the snow
and i cant afford new tires right now but i think i'll be ok b/c of the awd and new brakes
subarus were made for the snow, and they're a great all year long car and they last forever so i think you'll be fine.

depends on the tires and driver.courtjesterclown wrote:<snip> How does a subaru compare to a fullsized 4-wheel drive truck in the snow
2 years ago I had an 06 yukon for the snow, it was great.
this year I have the subie, it's good but not as much as the yukon was.
BUT, the subie can dart in and out of traffic easily and fit in small spaces, the Yukon can't. the subie gets 15 mpg, the yukon got 11. tires for the yukon are $110+ ea. the subies are $50 ea. The yukon cost $50 a day (rental paid for by lake geneva) the subie cost $400.
if money / space wasn't an issue, I'd rather have the yukon for the winter than the subie, but money is a huge issue so I'll be happy with my subie as it drifts in slush when I push it too hard.
