Ebay crank pulley???
I have been doing some searching and haven't found much aside from someone has put one on there leggy. For 25 beans though? It is an underdrive one though. My 2.2 is developing the classic pulley wobble and want to just replace it. I have a spare 2.5 crank pulley, but it seems to weigh more... I am hoping this isn't a repost. Thanks

buy a perrin lightweight crank pulley. yeah it costs about 4x as much as the ebay one, but you pay for what you get.
the perrin one isn't underdriven either. but it does weigh considerably less.

If it were for my G20, I would consider a UR or equivalent. But my 93 wagon is no cherry. The Perrin would cost me half the car's cost. I like my Leggy, but... So the only drawback of a underdrive is going to be dimmed lights and shitey AC. I won't be using the AC. I can throw in some cheap HID kit. I would imagine it would be ok then. I just wanted to see if anyone is rocking the cheapo pulley to see it's quality.

Perrin ones pop up on nasioc if you look. then you can save some money. and a "cheap" hid kit is just that, cheap and crappy.
personally, i wouldn't run a lightened pulley on any car i own. too much risk of bearing or crank damage, and only for a few HP. people say subaru's don't have to deal with the same issues, but i don't care. get a boost controller if you want cheap power.

HID ballasts use a bit more power upon warm up. After that, it uses less than a conventional halogen. I have a spare HID kit from a Mercedes I can use. A boost controller doesn't do a thing on an NA application
I work at a Subaru dealer. So getting a 2.5 crank pulley was easy enough. It just weighs more.

It's ok. I built a 4 door SR20 powered Nissan sentra with no p/s or a/c. Full bolt ons/headwork/etc. It was worth it.ciper wrote:Not only will you get dim lights and shitty AC but also it will be very hard to park the car since the power steering is weak at low rpm.

I think you guys have some misinformation on the underdrive pulleys. I have one on my 91 ss and don't have any problem with dim lights or the power steering, at idle or otherwise. I will admit that the ac doesn't work as well in stop and go traffic where you are idling a bunch, but once you do a steady 35 or so it works fine. Mine is the unorthodox racing pulley. I can't attest to the way any others work, but mine work great.
