Catalytic converters

Post by William D. Robinson »

The cat on a Legacy turbo is of the honeycomb monolithic variiety. It
is a ceramic brick with a jillion tubular holes running down its
length. From what I have seen, it is a pretty unrestrictive cat. When
enthusiasts hog out the catalytic gizmo and turn their cat into an
expansion chamber, they gain little or nothing. Expansion chambers
equal turbulence and backpressure.. a nice exhaust system is of equal
diameter the entire length.
