Starting out Christmas with a bad rod bearing.....

Post by douglas vincent »

:(

Got all my Christmas shopping done, stopped at the grocery store, came out and for whatever reason, had turned off the radio. Whats that strange noise outside in the engine bay? I drove it back to the shop, poured a quart of oil in and hoped for the best.

Nope. I stuck some auto stethascopes on and listened. Rattle rattle rattle. I revved it a little. Still there. And suddenly RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE.

Looks like my Christmas vacation suddenly got cold and exspensive (relative to what I planned).

The good? I have two motors that can go in, but I wasnt planning on doing it so soon!

Oh well, what do you want on a 250,000 mile bottom end..... Its been in 3 cars now, one boosted for a year..

So I started pulling the engine today.....

The crank pulley basically fell off in my hand. Looks like I got "lucky".
