I rolled and totalled it...

Post by smh0101 »

On Saturday I was going to La Center from Woodland on the backroads...

As I came around a corner (not going very fast I might add, only about 40 to 45) a late 90s red mustang was in my lane.

I slammed on the brakes very hard, like abs kicking in hard and started to overstreer very badly...

I counter steered and gave it gas which flung me the other way, then I spun and flew off of a cliff...

I rolled 3 times and landed right side up.

My cell phone flew out the back window as did my laptop. Both survived.

But I couldnt find my phone so I climbed back up the hill and hitched back into town where i called for help.

The car is totaled... it looks like the drivetrain is still good to go so I am going to transfer everything into a 91 Rio Red Sport Sedan Shell.

So I wont be out of a Legacy for to long.

And I only broke my collar bone.

I am on oxycodone right now... "I can see through mountains watch me dissapear, I can even touch the sky... Swallowing colors from the sounds I here. Am I jsut a crazy guy you bet..."

Here are the pics of the car when it was still on the tow truck...

Glad to see you are ok. Sad to see the car a total.

But this is where I note: you always need to drive with complete control.

You may not have felt like you were going fast, but if the car looks like that, it was fast enough.

I too have been in a 45 mph roll over.
And I can honesty say, the car was going too fast and not completely within control.

Hope you heal fast.

Wow, that sucks, man. Very glad to hear you're OK.
Enjoy the Oxy... just lay off the eggnog! You've got some heroic damage shots of the car... be proud. After the anger and shock wears off, you'll enjoy telling the story; I've been there a few times.

Chalk another one up...as old as these cars are, they still are proving to be as safe as just about any new car, although a modern traction control system might have enabled you to pull out of the tank-slapper situation.

Speedy recovery to ya, and Happy Holidays!

Then I would ask: a car in your lane heading the same direction, or the wrong direction. I read it like you came upon a car in your lane going the same direction and had to avoid it.

My apologies if I misunderstood.

And you had one of the cleaner white sedans I have seen.

Wow, that sucks. Man, I hate people. Good thing they built them like tanks at least. I'd still take an old Legacy in an accident over my 3.

SO YOUR SPENCER!! Dude that sucks! I got the bulletin on my myspace, but I couldn't remember your handle. After reading your bulletin, I was hoping you were driving something other than your turbo Sedan, but I guess you were. That really sucks, but from the looks of it things could have been ALOT worse. Glad you were able to walk away. Whats the insurance going to give you for that wreckage now?

dscooby, there was a car in my lane heading towards me, going the wrong direction, I crashed trying to avoid a head on collision.

And TheSubaruJunkie, you are Brian right? And yea, that was me who posted on MySpace...

OMG!!!! I was beginning to think it was a joke when I read flew off cliff. Then scrolled down and I felt scared. I can't believe it. I just can NOT believe this. Main thing is you are alright, the expensive components of the car are alright, and the Subaru proved to have protected you.

First, Yes, dad did take this one, yet graciously gave it back...

Secondly, The Heart and Soul of this one will live on. It shall ressurrect a 1991 Rio Red Sport Sedan that is in need of a new Tranny and Engine.

We will also pull the interior out of the wrecked and install it in the 91...

We may begin on Thurs or Fri...

How does your Dad feel? If he had kept it out of your hands ten minutes longer this would not have happened. Not saying it is his fault, but he took it away from you for a reason. Sometimes Dads have a feeling about things, give him credit.

I think all caps means you are yelling. Get control of your emotions. Ten minutes later that Mustang and you would not have been at the same place at the same time. Your Dad kept the car longer, or you sat on the shitter a few more more minutes, whatever, it was timing. Get a car with title in your name, if you are old enough, then only you are responsible. Merry Christmas!

It's cool. Don't do too much before you are ready, you could cause your recovery period to be longer. Take care.

Damn, I remember those pics you just posted of that mountain snow drive. Brought a bunch of warm fuzzies to my heart...

RIP.

You know, knowing that this is the heart and soul of some junkass red 91 doesnt' make it any better for us. I'm trying my hardest not to "blame the victim here" but the fact it happened really frosts me...

Mend up and better luck in the New Year!
