driveshaft u-joints?
i'm getting an anoying rumble between 35-45 mph. i've done some checking and found a slightly binding u-joint @ the rear diff yoke. the joints appear to be permanently installed by a special press. anyone find another source besides a salvage yard for the back half of the driveshaft? btw its a 92 5mt na. just wondering if subaru might offer a reman??????
I am in the process of getting my driveshaft sorted out also. There was evidently a company that made u-joints to replace the oe ones after they were pressed out. They had inner clips to hold them in. When I got my shaft back after having that done it was at least 5 times worse than when I took it in. The front was the main culprit and they ordered parts to replace the whole front joint. They had to cut and weld on the new pieces, but the joint is readily replaceable now. They balanced it and said it was good to go. Well it goes, but there is still some vibration and I am pretty sure the rear will need to be done. I am just hoping it is not the center cv joint which you may or may not have.
I would steer clear of the joints made to replace the originals. Thats my take from my experience.
You should be able to get this work done at any good driveline shop. Call around. There is alway The Driveshaft Shop, but you would have to ship it out there.

I don't know if you guy are still around but if you look at my latest post with pictures you can see I just has a shaft snap at the front U-joint and the shop wasn't sure how that could have happen but from what you guy post I am wondering if my the rear diff yoke could have locked up as this happen at low speed (just pulling out of the gas station). If you have any ideas let me know as I don't need to miss something and have it lock of worse later.
Thanks
