I have a few pics, I will try to upload more this evening.

I will be doing a full rebuild on the engine, delta cams, PnP TD04, headers, and later.... standalone?

heres a few pics:

so do these look like the right heads?

also, can anyone tell me weather or not the intake manifold is a 20g or 20k?

thanks

My understanding was that the EJ20K had a coil pack for ignition. If I'm right, since your intake manifold doesn't have a spot for the coil pack to be mounted, I think that means it's for an EJ20G, which uses coil-on-plug ignition.

Damn. Leaking a little oil? lol

Keep it up, young whippa snappa.

Let me know when you need those studs, and want to do some assemblage.

yea, my mbc line popped off and sprayed oil everywhere a bunch of times, also my turbo has been shot for the past year and some change, my next step is to get the internals out and get the block hot dipped.

are all the timing marks on the plastic timing belt covers? I am kind of concerned about this....

Looks like a 20G manifold, but what's the deal with that throttle body?

What heads are those, 20K?

if they are 20k will they still work with my sensors?

The manifold looks like its from a EJ20G, as EJ20Ks & DOHC 2.5s have mounting points for the coil pack.

Where is that t-body from? It looks wrong for a use with a ej22t ECU.
I see a block off for the IAC & a idle controller on the t-body. Was this used on a Ghetto DOHC'd 1.8 ??

I'd use that manifold with a ej22t t-body (complete with TPS...) & IAC.
I matched a ej22t t-body up on a EJ20G manifold in the past & the bolts lined up perfectly.

If the heads & v-covers came together (& are from a turbo motor) I'd say they look like EJ20G heads.
EJ20K v-covers are smooth (at least the ones on the motor I have in the garage is), while EJ20G's have the writing on them.
I've seen EJ20Gs with both plastic ('95 WRX) & metal cam gears ('93 WRX).

That ej22t is probably one of the dirtiest I've seen!

Holy extremely oil soaked Batman...!!!

It drives me nuts just to have a small amount of oil stain the motor now that invested many hours cleaning it up during my recent tear down for a head gasket job.

For some reason the oil soaked VF11 makes the TD04 look like a GT35...

so, you think this stuff will plug into the harnesses then?

I was planning on using my throttle body from the 22 anyways because its larger than the one on the 20g manifold.

I will take some more pics tonite because I am starting to tear the engine down.

im just basicly trying to verify that the heads will work on my car and not be in conflict with my ecu.

and yes, my 22t has had a shot turbo and leaky main seals for quite some time, I will make it up to her though!

That t-body looks like it is from a 1.8.

With the ej22t t-body, TPS, & IAC everything should plug in & it should run OK.

I'm running a EJ20G off the ej22t ECU - everything basically plugged in with no big problems.

when you say no big problems, what did you run into as far as wiring, cam and crank sensor problems, and just overall weird stuff?

thanks guys!

The cam and crank sensors on all the first gen stuff are the same, so you will have no issues using the ones off of the EJ22T.

that is a vf-11? That doesnt look like a vf-11.

I swapped motors so my install was a little different than yours will be.
Most of the EJ20G sensors were the same as ej22t sensors.
If the sensor was the same I used the EJ20G sensor, if it was different I used the ej22t sensor (MAF cam, crank) since I was using a ej22t ECU.
I also used the EJ20G grey 440cc injectors.

Since you are using DOHC heads with ej22t sensors you should be OK as the sensors that were on your motor will be going back on.
You'll have to get plug wires from a DOHC Legacy or 2.5Rs, as you will be using your coilpack.

I'd bring the coil-pack & a V-cover to the parts store when you get the wires to make sure everything will fit OK (there are a few different versions of DOHC wires with male or female coil-pack terminals, & round or teardrop plug terminals).

Let me know when my parts are in at the stealership!!!

so I MAY have ran into a small problem.... turns out the heads are from the 20 R engine.... does anyone know if there are any differences in the cam gears, or intake manifolds (20g-20r)

Should be OK. You will need to plug the unused oil and water ports on the far side head.

I moved into my new shop, so get ready for LOTS of updates!!!

I got my IAC and throttle body bolted up to my intake manifold and its looking like its going to be a pretty straight forward swap!!!!

yesterdays progress:
