FS: Knockoff MOMO wheel SOLD!!

Post by Aerotech »

I picked up this wheel 6-7 years ago in Bali. The rim is covered in real leather, the center cap is pleather. Leather is in good shape, no wear, tears or abrasions.

I believe it is approx. 14" dia.

It has a Subaru hub adapter (Grant, I think) that I modified to fit the wheel, and I also added two push-momentary buttons that I wired to the slip-ring to operate the Legacy cruise control. The hub adapter has a slot that fits the slip-ring stub and drives it around with the wheel. The center cap is a horn button, I have a small Subaru sticker in there, or put in your own logo.

Are any modifications to the car needed to install this? IE - can you switch back to stock easily?

And I assume you lose the cancel function of the cruise with only the 2 buttons...

The only mod you need to do for the buttons to work is to solder on some thin wires onto the slip ring... I will try and locate my old ring, but I clipped the wires when I removed the wheel.

One button for accel, and one for coast. You do lose the cancel, but I always found it easier just to tap the brake or clutch. This was the only thing I could come up with using an aftermarket wheel. The MOMO wheel I have now has a completely different slip ring built into it, I can't use the cruise at all now.... don't really miss it, though.

Or lose the cruise completely, and use the buttons to run your Nitrous and water injection systems...

Couldn't you wire up cancel & set vs. set & coast?

Hmmm... I 'm not sure, really. It's been a while since I was in there. I seem to remember 4 sliprings; one for horn, 2 for set/coast and one ground. I don't know where the cancel circuit is...

Anyone seen the ring assembly up close recently?
