Very common system for collectables and charity auction type of stuff.

Seems a number of you don't really know how it works with the big boys and real auctions for collectible cars. A seller's fee of 10-15% of sale price is standard. Preapproval of bidding and buyer's credit rating or a cash deposit into the auction house's bank is also standard practice. Based on the other cars they are offering, I see no reason to doubt the authenticity of the vehicle and a simple vin check with cross referencing to the FIA homologation papers will proove it to be real very easily.
I also don't think the price is too high. Just because we're getting hosed on exchange rates these days doesn't make the car too expensive. It just makes it expensive for an American to acquire. In England, 35,000 pounds will buy you about the same number of pints of beer as $35,000 USD would buy you here. Taken that way, the car isn't all that expensive at all...

Plus you have to figure that after Colin's untimely death, the value of this car went up greatly! And with the sport of Rally Cross only getting more popular, the car's value would only seem to increase with time.
It's roll in it for sure, but only on the nicest of days with a street sweeper driving far ahead of me to keep stone chips from ruining the paint job... (if you're rich you could afford to do this type of crazy thing)
