help with my auto tranny

I have a 91 ss that has a auto tranny. Ok my problem is that it only has one foward gear. It has no reverse. I boght the car this way. I just bought a turbo tranny today for 400 and before i install this tranny i would like to know if anybody else has had this problem. I was told it could be a sensor because the spedo don't work eather. What do you guys think? The tranny in my car looks great like it has been rebuilt in the past couple of years. I just don't want to go through the work of puttiing a different transmission in it, if it is just a senser or somthing easy. Any help would great and apprecaiteed. Thank you very much

I doubt it's the sensor, but you need to get the speedo working in order for the trans to properly shift. More then likely it's related to the cable. The base piece in the transmission commonly goes bad
