I have a 93 leg. wagon..and right now it just has some flowmaster or random muffler with a tip. It sounds alright, it has the amazing rumble..but its to rattle can/tinny for me.
So Im just wondering what is a good exhaust...Im thinking getting new piping from the cat back (what size?) and what muffler?
any advice would help..i really want a nice rumble(even loud is cool w/me)...so when im coming people know its me!!
thanks

2.25" with a resonator to a 5x8 straight through Magnaflow
Flowmasters sound like a bunch of angry trash cans

Borlas are nice too...
For a resonator, just use a glasspack...
They are just there to deepen the tone a bit and take out the rasp.

With no cat and no resonator it will be raspy...
Don't ask me how I know

I'm looking to do an external WG setup and dump the gas just out the side behind the front tire. I want my car to snarl flames at people on the sidewalk, or in the slow lane.

Yep, typically a resonator is near the mid point of the exhaust length, having an expansion point there helps absorb and reflect the frequencies with shorter wave lengths (higher tones). There can be a lot of science in the sound of an exhaust. I’ve heard Ferrari actually tunes their exhausts to specific notes.
My 3” Helix turbo back has a center resonator and a huge straight through can, its quite loud, but sounds amazing. Even in the winter I usually drive with a window partway down so I can hear it better.

I'm going on 40 and most of my co-workers tell me my car sounds like something a 16 year old should drive... I dont care, I love it.

For NA you want stock exhaust piping size.
If it's a little too noisy now, just add a glasspack (as a resonator) inline on the exhaust somewhere. Should mellow out the noise a little bit, the rumble will stay.
This method is tried and true. Local performance shop (Buschur) just keeps adding resonators until the sound is mellow enough on their 600-900 hp EVO beasts.
