got my sensors and stuff, IAT and Knock sensor so i can get my tune perfectified.

not sure how to wire them up though so i will need to find a wrx ecu pinout.

the knock sensor was only one wire? is that bad? are they usually like that?

maybe i answered my own question but here is a link to the WRX pinout i use:

-it says there should be two wires for the knock sensor? the ones i see on ebay only have one wire.

i think that for the AIT (air intake temp) sensor, which has two wires on the sensor itself, one must just go to ground and the yellow one must go to the AEM for signal.

B22, 27, and 4 are the locations...

The knock sensor only has one wire. However the wire on the ECU side typically is shielded, so the wiring diagram shows the main signal wire, and the shield wire connection point to the ECU.

IAT will have two wires, one goes to the sensor ground on the ECU, and the other goes to the +5v supply.

So just to get this straight, the one wire coming off of the knock sensor goes to signal and no other location on the AEM (any ecu) correct? My Pinouts for the knock sensor are as follows:

Content Pin WireColor Signal (V) Note
Ignition SW ON
(Engine OFF) Engine ON (Idling)

Knock
sensor Signal B4 W 2.8 2.8 —
Shield B22 SB 0 0 —

And as for the intake air temperature sensor the one wire goes to B27 and the other wire goes to a ground at B19.

Cool!!
Intake air temperature
sensor signal B27 Br — — —

Evidently my formatting got axed with the above information.. sorrys

If there is a sensor ground on the AEM, you would want to hook up the knock sensor shield ground to it.

so my checklist for now before another tune:

-wire in all the above sensors and get the following information for my tuner:

- clean up wires in my engine bay and fix boost leak in silicon coupler

-Wheel and tire size xxx/xx/xx

Final drive ratio
3rd gear ratio
4th gear ratio
frontal area ft squared (not as important)
drag coefficient (not as important, but would be sweet to know!)

Search ;) This thread pretty much has everything you need....hahaha  Check out the spreadsheet for the gear ratios. Also note that the drag coefficient is for the sedan. Wagon will be slightly higher.

So for some reason my afr gauge and my blitz ebc go into off mode when I turn the car. On all the way..

I believe I plummed all wires up according to the ecu, and I have three wires going into the main sensor ground and I used solder to put them there so maybe its that but I def can't tune with those things wrong.
Not excited but I will work backwards and see what happened, if anyone had any wiring knowledge or recommendations that would be great!

Thx. Guys, vkds soon too

I'll get some virtual dyno info/graph posted up for everyone to take a look at. I know Zach is super busy with school/work and i'm currently in South Korea so finding time to get everything needed for the dyno isn't quite as easy as it may seem ;)
Here is a link to a great program for those that may be interested! (if you find it useful throw the creator of this FREE software a few bucks!)

There is also an in depth thread on EVOM discussing the details of this program if you want to read more.

Zach's Legacy is a fun wagon to say the very least and is truelly loved by its owner who has put in a lot of work to get his car where it is today!

Thanks man!

So, I haven't been on here in awhile but i wanted to ask the guys that know more than me if there is a correlation between lower temperatures and loss of compression?

As it has gotten colder outside, i have lost at least one cylinder... so i am driving around again on either one or two cylinders. WTF right?

this just occurred to me because as it was getting colder outside over the last few months, especially in the morning, i had to hold in the gas until all cylinders came back to life ad started hitting. ...

i'm going to plug into the AEM and see if i can find coils like brando said awhile ago, but i know that the compression on my #4 is low from testing it last year and im wondering if that is contributing to this whole deal.

any ideas welcome! i also have vids from the autocross in Sept i attended and gave alot of guys a run for their money hahaha, they were not expecting to be beat lol.

anyways thanks guys

Also wondering if it is again a fault with the wiring, if so and brydon if you are reading this i will buy you as much beer as you wish for assistance. :)

I'd say wiring is probably the biggest suspect. The engine core temp should heat up to the same temp regardless of ambient conditions.

Thanks!

So i guess i just blew a headgasket finally, im not sure if the ones that were on the car were custom but i just checked my coolant tanks and it looked like shmoo, which is gross.... mix of oil and coolant without a doubt.

Hopefully the process will be relatively painless!

So evidently whoever assembled my motor last sheared a piece of my cam off during installation (cough...dave bush...cough)

I found a replacement one but it says HF on it instead of FF, and both cams are the right hand side intake ones.

wondering if i will run into problems using it? i can see fuel delivery problems arising if the rotational degrees are different between the two and the valves are open/shorter because of the switch.. which would be bad.

Thanks guys!
