My budget legacy turbo build.

Post by ca18_sean »

So I'm new to Legacy Central... picked up a 93 ss afew months ago. I actually went to a rally cross the first weekend I had the car. Haha, I have pictures with the temp tag on the back :P

I've been browsing on here, learned alot, and now that i've finished round 1 of mods, I figured I'd throw up afew pics and introduce myself. Under $3k spent so far total. Best fun I've ever had for that kind of money...

Mods (with pricing):
1993 Legacy Turbo - $1500
BBS wheels and tires ( 16x7 +48 ) - $1000
Tanabe Sustec BC springs - $150
WRX intercooler - $75
STI axleback exhaust - $50
Autometer boost gauge - $50
eBay MBC - $10

meh, i got lazy with the gauge. i mainly just used it to figure out and set what kind of boost i was running with the boost controller. I don't look at it on a regular basis.

but thanks guys :)

Clearwater! Right on. I'm just down the road in Pasco. . I don't have my leggy with me, otherwise, I'd say let's get together and drive! I don't think I could hang in the schmivic. . .

Actually its an individual throttle body (ITB) for fuel injected cars... but more or less the same concept. That new v8 m3 is sick! Mine is a 6 cylinder with 6 throttle bodies. Pretty cool because they're electronically controlled so when you push the sport button they actually open faster :P

And note; if you're having hesitation, black smoke, trouble accelerating, or flat spots while accelerating, it might be a boost leak. I took apart my intercooler set up today because I suspected a boost leak, and sure enough one of my silicone couplers was torn at the edge where the clamp was. Stupid worm drive clamps eat up silicone couplers! The car is soooo much smoother and faster now, its almost a different vehicle! Gas mileage also immediately doubled. Wohooo :)
