That spinning thing that makes all of the cool noises. OE and Aftermarket.

turbo click?

Post by mexicanzero »

ok so i think this is the right place to put this question
between 2500 and 3000 rpm along with the awesome whine from the turbo i hear a steady clicking sound, it almost sounds like a loose heat shield or something.
it sounds like its coming from the turboish area perhaps slightly lower. the heat shields are not loose and there is nothing in that area that i imagine could be making this sound. could it be a broken blade in the turbo?
i'm hitting just below 9 psi with everything stock right now so its working well. i find it weird how it only happens in the beginning of the boosting period when psi's are still low. and it only happens under load, in neutral there isn't any noise. any ideas?

+1 Boost solenoid.

Some of these things can sound as loud as a ticking lifter (Greddy Profec B)

wow really? i would have never thought.
luckily this weekend im installing my intercooler and my manual boost controler. so once i unhook the boost solenoid and put the mbc in its place it should stop the noise right?
or do i have to completely take it out of the entire system?
thanks lots

depends...

is your MBC a bleed type or "normal" ?

for my MBC i removed all hoses from the stock boost control solenoid.

i did a thread, search it up. might help :D

if you could hear the stock solenoid click over the sound of the turbo and the motor going 3k under load then you have the greatest hearing EVER.

heatshields, on the exhaust. Weld em on and see if it goes away.
Kickin' it old-school.
