Auto trans question

Post by RussGST »

My 93 legacy ss is auto, we just finished swapping in a 1.8 bottom end, now driving it around the trans feels a little soft, shifting wise and seems to keep the revs up a bit. there should be the appropriate amount of fluid in the but when you pull the dipstick out its covered a good inch or 2 above the full line, any ideas?

I would check the dipstick while the car is idling. I just replaced my ATF and reading the cold and the hot (on their own scales of course) was drastically different. Other than that I have no clue about your problem, sorry.

You should check the fluid level with the trans at normal operating temp (hot). Drive the car around, park on a flat surface. With the engine still running, slowly cycle through the gear selector from park to 1 and back to park. Leave the engine running, and check the ATF level.
