So I pulled the motor from my DD that I wrecked some months ago...
Sprayed it down, took the heads and water and oil pump off. Found about 25 thousandths endplay in the crank. Also found out that the keyway had been welded and the dumbass that welded it put his ground clamp on the oil pump seal surface, leaving fucking clamp scars in the shit. I was pissed.
NOW I need to find a new freaking crank, and hopefully not put +1 oversize bearings in it. The motor didn't knock or anything when I pulled it, and it has 210,000 miles on it. Any reason why I would need the oversize bearings? And anyone have a good crank, or suggestions to which one I should swap over?
Had a bad day...

Any EJ20 or EJ22 crank will work...the journal sizes are all the same.
It sounds to me as though you just need to put in stock sized bearings, and the new thrust bearings should clear up most or all of your thrust issue.
