Clutch Problems... Big Time!
When I swapped the motor yesterday, I did my best to put the clutch disc dead center...
However, its all back together... And not working well
The pedal comes all the way up like it should, however the clutch, when engaging, chatters. And only the last (closest to the floor) 1.5 inches of pedal travel have any effect.
Any thoughts?
Did I not get it aligned right?

If you got the engine and the transmission together, you got it lined up OK.
Did you use the same exact flywheel, pressure plate and disc? If so, then you are probably just at the end of the clutches life.
Try bleeding it?

And Nick... No... You mean the end of the input shaft?

How well did you clean the clutch disc, pp, & flywheel.
Chances are you got oil on it when the engine blew...and could be the cause of the chatter.

Um... I didnt... it all seemed very dry.
Is it a possibility that I put the disc in backwards?

No...I don't mean the input shaft.
The snout of the tranny is what surrounds the input shaft...where the throughout bearing rides. If it isn't greased the clutch will be very difficult to modulate

Ah, gotcha... No I didnt grease anything...
I'm betting I installed it wrong, and since I have to pull the motor again anyways... I dont really car, I'll figure it out... I guess.
But is it possible that I accidentally reversed the disc?

Don't think so. I believe there is enough offset on the disc to prevent the pressure plate from going on if the disc is reversed.

I really feel stupid right now but I'm still having trouble figuring out what the snout is...
There is the bell housing that mounts to the engine... and within said housing is the clutch which connects to the flywheel, then the input shaft that goes into the clutch assembly... Now on said shaft there are splines, but also on there is a smooth round shaft at the end. Is that the snout?

The snout is the part that has the throwout bearing on it, you can see a thin layer of red grease on it in the pic.

OH! cool, gotcha...
But um, when I separated the engine from tranny, that part stayed with the engine... Is that bad?
