94 Legacy 2.2L Turbo (Ej22T) Speedometer Cable or Senor?

Post by Impreza2.2T »

Does anybody know if this tranny has a speedometer sensor or cable ? and if it would fit into a Impreza gauge cluster.

Cable.

I believe that the trans will accept a sensor in place of a cable if your chassis needs it that way.

Your question is confusing and lacks detail. Which Impreza are you talking about? Imprezas have used both cable and electronic speedo drives. Either way the transmissions can accept either type.

This is hard to explain but I have an idea of why its not working.

On the trans is something screwed into it. The speedo cable snaps into this thing. Inside of this thing there is a short metal shaft. I bet that shaft is broken.

When I installed my new speedo cable, I was dumb and didn't attach that U shapped clip properly between the speedocable and the short cable coming out of the tranny. While it all looked good and snug, the cable didn't actually connect internally at that joint... Just something to think about and check too.
