n00b status question

Ok. One (possibly a few) of the lifters on the driver's side of my engine are clattering like crazy. I've used Seafoam and it cleared up the noise for a day and then it came right back.
This isn't the first time this has happened either.
So now here's the n00b question: To replace the lifters, do I need to pull the head off or can I just pop off the rocker arm assembly and easily swap them out?

To be honest, I have no fucking clue what I'm doing, but I'm decently mechanically-inclined and can figure it out with a little direction.

Ya you can get them out without taking the head off, or even taking the cams out. Take the rocker cover off, and there's a few bolts that take the whole assembly off. I recommend having an in-lb wrench handy for re-assembly.
The Haynes manual or FSM that's floating around is useful as well.

I'd try to find an oil blockage before I go and change lifters.

Well I just got done fixing it. It was definitely a dead lifter. All is well now

Part 2:
So it's been three days since I changed out all of the lifters with brand new ones. Everything was great...
....driving home tonight and the problem started up again. What the hell is causing one of the lifters to go dead?!
