Was this a stupid way of putting in the strut bar?

I was trying different arrangements and this was the only way I could get it to bolt down, i swapped around the ends because i wanted the bar closer to the firewall but no luck, I would needed to redrill the plate with a drill press. It doesn't touch though, just had to hammer the crap out of the hood rips to get the hood to close (either way would have hit). Doesn't matter right?

I've seen strut bars mounted like that to clear intercoolers. Dunno what its effect on performance is, though.

Wait, why wouldn't it fit the other way? The holes didn't line up?

Is that a 02+ bar then?

That bar is for a GD Impreza which is why it fits the way it does.
I had the same one on my GC Impreza for a couple months & it fit the same way (upside down + backwards).
Took it off & put it on our WRX & it fit the way it was supposed to.

That said it did make a noticeable difference with 17" rims on the car so if you have no clearance issues leave it on the car!

If you didn't re-drill any holes, I can swap you for a GC one if you want.
Yes I have too many Subarus

it shouldnt make any difference which way it is mounted... its still doing its job, preventing torsion between the two strut towers...

my quantry is fitting my GC strut tower brace over my 06 intercooler... THAT is going to be interesting.....

I used a Whiteline forward skewed strut bar to clear the TMIC on my OBS-t which worked out well.

I went to a FMIC on my OBS-T a month back & switched to a STi Carbon-fiber strut bar to open up some space in the engine compartment.

It definitely fits. Seems like there is a difference. Before when I make a turn it felt like the chassis was twisting since I can hear the dash as well. Now you can throw it without all the annoying noises pretty damn solid. Plan on getting some 16" wrx rims which should help as well (currently running 14" steelies). I also got that brace some livestrong so that should make it even stiffer. Now I need to stop by a JDM shop I found that imports stuff for subaru from japan, the guy said next time he goes to japan he will keep his eyes open for the side and rear skirt for my wagon. I just want to get struts from him at the moment though.
