Clutch pedal feels soft

Post by BSOD2600 »

In the past few weeks, I've noticed that it feels like my clutch pedal is soft. I replaced the clutch cylinder last year, so thats not failing. Seems like the engagement point is further away and there is less travel between that point and when the pedal is against the firewall.

For the 5MT swap, performed in December 2006, I was told the tranny had ~40K miles. Since then, an additional ~18K miles have been put on. Is it possible the clutch is going out? What is a good definative way to test this?

I bled the clutch today but it didn't improve the feeling.

Your clutch should be fine Chris...as far as longevity goes...

Is it possible that you lost the spring off it?

The spring on the... umm fork into the tranny on the opposite side of the clutch piston? No, I checked that today; still there.
