Nice find in an antique mall
Going through an antique mall in St Joe the other day and found some old car magazines up on the third floor where it was more of an area where they tossed everything that had been there too long.
I noticed the magazines were from our cars era and within scanning through about 5 I came up with 2 Autoweeks that had articles on the Sport Sedan. I couldn't believe my luck. They were the only things we ended up buying. My collection just got a little bigger.

I would have to call them and make sure I don't run afoul of any copyright. That is also something I have never done so I will have to see if I can figure that out.

Contacted Autoweek and they sent me a form that is supposed to be used to make the decision whether or not to let me post the articles. We will see.

I'd be interested in them for the site.

I've had only one person get in contact with me about the content I have on the site. Rather than pay for it, I pulled it. It was an article from Turbo magazine, years ago. Oh well.

Wow, thats very, um... "proper" of you to go through channels like that. I wouldn't have thought to do that and I work in the publications industry. Anyway, hope to see some of those articles scanned up here soon.

Jefferson,
As a co-owner of registered, copyright material, I personally commend you on your course of action. I'd like to see these articles myself, however scanning and posting w/o the copyright owners permission is theft. I think alot of people would consider me an old, uptight, stickler for the rule of law, but intellectual property rights are just as real as physical property rights.

Well I finally got the word from Autoweek. Took several calls and the answer is no. They don't allow that with anything over 2 yrs old, which I really don't understand the line of thinking there.
If I go ahead and do it, what could they do other than make us take them off.

That's why you don't ask them in the first place and pull the "I had no idea I couldn't do that." line if they find out. What are they going to do? Tell you to take it off? They're not going to go through the trouble of sueing you over something so stupid that'll probably not make it through court anyways given the circumstances.

I definately wouldn't do it after they specifically told you no though. Doesn't mean you couldn't let someone else do it and claim you had no connection with it...Then if they find out, that person can use the line and they can remove it from the forum.

Maybe email them to specific people? That wouldn't be much different than handing someone your old hand-me-down magazine, but that would be more of a gray area at best. Few things in the world scare me: bad shit happening to the few people I restrict myself to caring about, not being able to stop/help said people, jail, and related legal/court shit. With the way people are about copyrights now, I wouldn't take a chance by making it obvious about violating it. China and their complete disregard for intellectual property has something to thank for the strict enforcement as of late as well as the RIAA cocksuckers and all the self-deluding assholes downloading so much music for free. Just admit it - you're stealing and you don't care and get on with it. Somehow that delusional dishonesty bothers me more than the stealing. I guess because that's a much more dangerous thing. Many of the Nazis in the camps lied to themselves to justify their actions as well.
Personally, I think Autoweek is being douchey about it. It's an old article about an insignificant car. Giving permission would cost them nothing and would have the potential to get new people to their website at the least. Denying it does nothing but assure they go to sites for much better magazines (like www.carmagazine.co.uk, though the comparison with a high-end monthly is admittedly unfair). With Autoweek's 'tard editor, though, I'm not surprised.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
