1995 legacy wagon taller tougher tires

I drive on logging/forest roads and need more ground clearance/traction. Anybody tried lt195/75r14 tires on a stock 95 legacy wagon?

the problem with taller tires will be clearance to the lower spring perch.
I don't think anyone on this board has tried that.
your best bet would be taller tires and a taller suspension that removes the spring perch (IE: coilovers) or changes it's orientation

I actually wanted to get into a longer-wearing tire that would increase top-speed fuel efficiency and ride comfortably. I found 195-75's fit the bill. I was only able to find them in 'standard touring'. I can tell you that I've really not noticed any difference in their handling. They don't rub or anything and it feels like there's ample room.
This is on a standard suspension (not the hi-lo air suspension)
I bet, if they made them, you could go to an 85 series without issue.

I can say for a fact the Outback tire size has almost no clearance with the spring perch. That is another thing you could do is put 95-99 outback stuff on.

I did a tire comparison and the outbacks used a 205 70 15 which would be 10mm wider and about 3/4" taller than a 195 75.

I have thought about the outback suspension thing but it just seems like too much screwing around. I don't really want to go to a real tall tire anyway because of the power lose.

when i was delivering the local newspaper, i had 195/70 r15's on my 92 wagon. they clear the spring perch juch fine and i found i didn't have that much of a power difference.

I did that outback strut swap last summer for a client. Straight bolt on, I think you just had to use the original legacy tops. We sent it for an alignment after, when it got back we measured the ride height and got another 1.25" of clearance with stock tires.

The tires you want to try will fit, no problems. I did the Outback strut/spring thing on my 92 L Sedan, and have put 205/75/14s, on the stock wheels, with no issues. Clearance is tight, but it definitely lifts up the car, and helps with off road...
