Reinstalled my Hella Supertones

Post by Legacy777 »

I had to take them off when I installed my AWIC, and hadn't put them back on. I fabbed up a bracket and mounted them below the area where the ABS goes. It actually is a very nice fit.

I love fabricating stuff like this from scratch. The plate I was bending wasn't long enough, so I had to bolt on a small brackat at the top.

That's where I mounted my Siebel compact airhorn only on the other side...Nice!

Also have the supertones behind the grill painted flat black for stealth.

Get outta my way!!

Josh and Adam, are the Supertones really loud enough to get a truck driver's attention on the highway (as it is advertised to do)?

Adam, how does the Seibel compare to the Hella's in loudness and sound?

Thanks, guys, for your input.

The supertones are loud car horns - think german cars - Mercedes etc. but high pitched.

The seibel horn is an airhorn integrated into a small package/form-factor for motorcycles. It's really loud.

The two are over the top loud...

For example I commute by the Mariners Stadium and stop on an overpass under the retracting stadium roof. The overpass is over frieght train rails. The other day there was a train, it honked it's horn. I honked back. I SWEAR he heard me an honked back at me...We went back and forth a few times...

Oh, and they aren't very expensive.

But both are great options individually or together. Just make sure to mount the Siebel as directed (nearly vertical) or they fail after a time period. Mine is mounted to spec and has been going for over 2 years now...

Cheers,

AW

Thanks for that info! :D

Hmmm, so which of the two is louder? Is one higher-pitched than the other?

I might make a video and post on youtube. I have a friend with just supertones in the grill. Probably in a few weeks tho at WCSS10 in Astoria. Horn hijinks will ensue for sure...

I alway used Hella Air-Horns & have never seen/heard these used in my neck of the woods, that said I ordered a set of these yesterday to try to scare slow walking NYC "I have the Right of Way" pedestrians as air horns do not cause a blink over here anymore.

If they cannot handle getting wet, they shouldn't be on a car in the first place. Everything under your hood gets wet at some point.

Yeah, they'll probably get wet here and there.....but I don't plan on fjording any small streams.....so I think I should be good. I don't know how they'd like being submerged....hahaha
