Interchangeable or similar parts between Legacy's and Impreza's from all years. Can you guys give me a short list of these parts. I'm mainly concerned with engine, suspension/steering, and brake parts. Thanks.

The '93-01 Impreza was based on the original Legacy platform. So with minor exeptions, it all works.

The electrical systems changed alot through the years however.

Ok, so axles, struts, intake manifolds...all of that from the 93-01 Impreza fits a 94 Legacy LS, with minor modifications maybe?

There is no blanket statement that all parts from any one Subaru will fit any other Subaru.

Yes, a lot of stuff is interchangeable... more than just about any other make I'd say.

But there are still anomalies, and just buying parts from an Impreza with a natural assumption that they'll fit just because they're based on the same platform is not a good idea.

What specifically are you trying to interchange?

I'm not sure what exact piece it is, but a part of my front suspension/steering makes a terrible grinding noise at low speed/rev. I think its one of the CV shafts (I believe that's what they're called) but I don't know for sure. I'm also asking in reference to aftermarket parts. I know most Subaru engines are pretty similar, the only difference being cylinder size/number. And I wasn't assuming a blanket statement that ALL parts from one Subaru work on another. I know they won't. But I'm asking if the parts are interchangeable with little to no modification/fabrication. That's all I'm concerned with.

So, does anyone know if the parts I described are interchangeable with my 1994 Legacy LS with little to no modification in Legacy's from different years or Impreza's?
