An introduction and a question about awd

Howdy folks...glad you are here. I just bought a '93 legacy wagon a/t (my second one). When I make tight slow speed turns, the car slows down and binds. (Just like my truck does when in 4wd) After I put it in park and shut it off, the car lurches a bit. The thing must be locked in a even form of awd??
Just took it to a shop and they say the duty sol. is out causing the binding. (cost $1175 to fix) Can I put a 15 amp 2wd fuse in to remedy the situation (short term)?
Thanks in advance.

Are you getting a flashing power light, or codes on startup?

Thanks for the response. The power light flashes on 16 times on startup. Any idea if the 2wd fuse would be a temporary cure?

 Run away from that shop, holy rip-off batman. A decent mechanic that has ever touched a Subaru transmission wouldn't need a $1000 worth of labor to get it done.

Throw the fuse in until you can get a second (or third) opinion on it. A competent mechanic with a lift and the proper tools should not take more than 3-4 hours to do it. Even that's a stretch.
