Broken nipple

Post by Sean Lukan »

Well boys... I broke that damn nipple off. And then to top it off I
broke the one that leads to the overflow can as well. Gotta give
Subaru the thumbs up though... those cans are nice and thick! I just
drilled out the old nipples and crazy glued in some new ones. I will
reinforce the job with some JB Weld as well. Funny thing about this
is that I read on the list the other day about the nipple and made a
point to look for the bottle when I was doing my tune-up but never
found it. Found it the next day when I went to drive off and found a
big puddle though! Also picked up a roofing nail in my R/F tire. I
guess I'll have to make it to Tirecraft for my free repair this
afternoon :(. Later

Broken nipple

Yep.. that weak nipple on the header tank is known as a "stock fault" in the
trade, and if you had known this, you may have treated it more delicately.
The same weakness with age also affects some of the larger moulded rubber
hoses around the intake manifold.
