oil dissapearing!!!

Post by logan9691 »

I have 800 miles on my current oil change and checked it the other day and the level was all the way down to low, the car has 246000 miles on it and i know it will probably be using some oil but why so much, also I noticed oil around the outside of the filter, i checked it and it was on tight, any ideas?

It's not shooting out a blue cloud when you get on it by any chance or when its just idling? Mmm if there's alot around the filter it could possibly be your oil pan gasket. Could also be the front or rear main seal and with those high mileage it is very likely these need to be replaced also it could be coming out of the valve cover.

no blue smoke thankfully... theres nothing around the oil pan, and when i got the car the engine was pulled and virtually every seal was replaced.

change the oil filter and make sure the old gasket is not stuck to the block... could also be a bent or warped filter canister

Maybe you already know it but you have to check your oil when engine is warm but not too much and you have to wait 5 minutes after the engine is shut down to let the oil come down in the pan.

Lots of people have trouble to check their oil level.
Legacy turbo, desnorkled, intercooled, TD04, Borla catback, urethane mounts, wrx rear brakes.
