1989/90 + legacy questions

Post by RTSGVR-4 »

Hey guys, Ive been looking for one to pop up for a while now, but Ive been looking for an early legacy without power windows/doors, no sunroof, ect. basically a base legacy, FWD is OK. Do these even exist? I have found info sites saying they were sold that way, but I have yet to see a single legacy without power options. The car needs to be light for the project idea I have been contemplating, thus why I want a stripped down model. Any ideas?

They list them as being made...and I think I've seen one or two in my lifetime....but the chances of you finding one are probably slim to none.

Find a non-sunroof car and import the manual window regulators? I'm sure they are more common in other parts of the world?

Is it safe to assume your not worried about door panels?

They pop up on ebay occasionally. Keep your eye out.

Not much there now for 1st gen.'s, just a 93 sedan and a postal wagon..

I've seen only a couple wind-up window cars myself. Don't bother—the weight difference between the manual windows and power would be negligible (taking a dump that day would probably make the difference up) and you're talking probably less than .1% of the total weight. If you accept the power windows, finding a FWD without a sunroof should be easy and cheap. Or at least they used to be.

rules require stock interior pieces. If I could find a non sunroof car I could swap in the manual regulators most definately, if i could find them.

Where are you located?
There is a pre-facelift wagon at the pull-a-part in Tacoma w/ manual windows and black bumpers. The rear trim reads 'Legacy' only, not even 'L'. I didn't even think to check whether it was awd. Its in real good condition, too. The body is straight and complete and the motor is in it. The interior is in real good condition too. The crank pulley is loose but the bolt is still there, which is probably why the car is there. I asked about buying the whole car, but they told me they don't sell entire cars once they hit the parts yard.
