strange noises

Post by joeWM »

so a few weeks ago i started noticing that when starting up in the mourning(freezing outside) i hear almost like a crunching sound coming from beneath the car, its coming from the tranny, i jacked it up and listend. but it only does it when its cold and in neutral, as soon as i put in the clutch it stops, i havnt noticed any out of ordinary behavior from it. anyone have any ideas?

most likely your clutch bearing is wearing on you snout. i had the same problem on my 01 legacy. it turned out that i needed a snout repair kit, but by the time i got to it it was to late. it had worn a groove in my pressure plate teeth. i also had a leak from my snout.
